God i've never felt so low
i suppose it's only natural when you've been on the highest of highs
i've never been so scared
because i promised you so many things
but i think this time
it was a promise i can't keep
i told you i was scared
and you said you'd be by my side
i told you i don't want to hurt you
and you asked me if i wanted to
of course my answer was no
but now i see that i'm finding
that i could do so much worse

i've always been a fighter
never succumbing to feelings of insecurity
always putting my best face forward
even if sometimes, it was a mask
but masking the worst of me
is better than showing the weak of me
so forgive me
if what i've been giving you
isn't exactly all of me
or if i've been giving you too much of me

so here i am fighting off these feelings
trying my hardest to not think too much
but as usual, the little thinking i do
always seems to resolve to think about you
